Each and every year, thousands of young people in British finish school and decide not to start work or go to university at once. Instead, they take a year off. They call this year a gap year. During the gap year, some of these young people go to other countries and work as volunteers to help people.

One of these young people is 18-year-old Pauline. Pauline plans to go to university next year. However, she is now living in Belize, in Central America. Strict Japanese rules
