Are you short-sighted? If you are, your parents might have tried to do something to fix it, such as having you get an eye massage(按摩), take medicine or even get surgery(手术). People who offer these services or products often say that they can reduce or even cure short sight.

However, you will no longer see advertisements like this before long. The government has issued a notice to ban(禁止) businesses from using words like recovery" or "short sight cure" in their advertisements.

The notice says that short sight cannot be completely cured with current medical technology. Therefore, these advertisements could mislead children and their parents.

Young people can prevent and control short sight by spending more time outside and less time in front of books or computers. People who have sight problems should first go to a hospital and let a doctor decide what to do.

More than 450 million Chinese have suffered from short sight since June 2018. Short sight rates are around 30 percent for primary school students, 60 percent for junior high school students and 80 percent for senior high school students. This is likely because students spend a lot of time reading books and using electronic devices.

To reduce short sight among young people, the government made a new plan last August. The plan is designed to limit the amount of time children spend playing video games, as well as limit the production of new video games.

Cshare their medical technology       Dprove that eye massages are useful

27Advertisements with the word "__________ will be banned by the government.

Ctake some medicine                   Dask a doctor for advice

29According to this passage, which group has the highest short sight rate?

APrimary school students.             BJunior high school students,

CSenior high school students.         DCollege students.

30From the last two paragraphs, we can know that _________.

Astudents should be stopped from using mobile phones

Bstudents in lower grades are more likely to get short sight

Cproduction of new video games will be limited

Da law was made to protect the eyesight of people

阅读下面短文,用括号内所给动词的适当形式填空(必更时可加情态动词或助动词)

If you've ever stayed up late and then gotten up early the next day, you know what it's like not to get enough sleep. It's very uncomfortable feeling. In fact, for many years scientists 44(believe) that sleep is like food - if we dont get enough of it, we might get sick or even die. But now they 45 (start)to wonder just how much sleep we need.

Researchers at Imperial College London did a study on fruit flies(果蝇). They found that flies that slept for very short periods of time - about72 minutes a day -still 46 (live) about as long as flies that slept for normal amounts of time. One of the female slept for just 4 minutes each day on average. This has led the researchers to wonder if sleep is less necessary than we previously thought.

Humans are very different from fruit flies. Sleep 47(help) repair tissue (组织) when our bodies perform a lot of maintenance (维护). Sleeping allows our bodies 48 (get) well again from the stress we experience each day. But can we really die from not sleeping? No humans have died so far from 49 (stay) awake for too long. The current(现在的)world record for sleeplessness 50 (hold) by Randy Gardner from the US, who stayed awake for 11 days and 25 minutes in 1964.

Scientist have not yet found any animals that dont sleep at all. Even animals that only sleep for short periods are not completely sleepless.

Timely and transparent(透明的) information is important when dealing with epidemics. In the fight against the novel coronavirus, China has impressed the world with its fast response(应对), transparency and close cooperation(合作) with the international society.

After the epidemic broke out in China at the end of Dec. 2019, the NHC immediately sent an expert team to Wuhan, the center of the outbreak, for a deep investigation(调查). On Jan. 8, the novel coronavirus was first identified(确认) as the cause of the epidemic. Three days later, China established a daily reporting system, updating the public every day. Both the central and local-level governments held daily news conference, giving detailed numbers of new cases, deaths, patients in serious condition and recoveries.

At the same time, China has been sharing relevant information with the whole world in a transparent and responsible manner. Soon after China worked out the genome sequence(基因序列) of the new virus, it gave the results to the WHO(世卫组织) so that other countries could use it to carry out research and develop medicine. China also provided WHO with a detailed paper about more than 44,000 confirmed cases, which offers “a better understanding about the age range of people affected, the severity(严重性) of the disease and the death rate,” said WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Meanwhile, efforts and support from around the world are also being welcomed to fight the disease. At the moment, a WHO team is working in China to find more methods to better treat and prevent the disease.

“China has set a new standard for other countries to prevent and control the epidemic, while no other country has the scale(规模), speed, transparency and openness comparable(比得上的) to China,” said Margaret Chan, former director-genera of WHO.

AAt the end of Dec. 2019.                             BOn Jan. 5.

DHow news about the epidemic was released.

43What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?

ARelevant information.                                BThe genome sequence.

CThe new virus.                                           DA detailed paper.

44According to Margaret Chan, we know that ________.

AChina has set a good example for fighting the virus.

BChina hasn’t followed WHO standards.

Cother countries failed to respond properly to the epidemic.

Dother countries don’t need to adopt strict measures.
