【答案】

Last week, our school did a survey about “Who is your idol?”. Here are our answers.

In the past, we thought singers and movie stars were our idols. They always have cool hairs and clothes. They are fashionable. Also, they are talented and can put on funny shows. Their performances are so relaxing that it makes our life colorful. But now we think scientists and medical workers are our idols. Scientists invent high-tech products to protect national security and improve people’s living standard. Doctors and nurses save people’s lives and help them get out of pain and back to health. When our country and people are in trouble, they help people with wisdom, courage and hard work.

In my opinion, those who help us when we are in need deserve our respect and admiration. As students, we should learn from them and study hard to be a useful person to the country and society.

The face-down generation(一代)

If you were born in the 2000s, you are called the oh-ohs. The 21stcentury. That would make you young, creative, connected, world-wide, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right? But what do other people think about your generation?

Some adults worry that you're more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the "face-down generation" because you use your phone so much. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family.

Other adults worry that today's youth are spoilt (溺爱) and don't want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by "helicopter parents". They were always there to guide and help their children with a busy program filled with homework and after-school activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today's youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.

Does the face-down generation need a heads-up? Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today's teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls' rights to go to school.

So if you're one of the oh-ohs, there's reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation. Chances are that you do great and laugh out loud.

69If Alice was born in 2004, is she an oh-oh?

When you think of the Arctic (北极), you imagine an icy land of pure white snow. Others imagine it as the last really clean place left on earth. We have polluted the deepest oceans with plastic rubbish. “And now”, CNN says, “It’s the Arctic’s turn.”

German scientists have recently found microplastics in Arctic snow. Microplastics are pieces of plastic smaller than 5 millimeters. Sadly, the scientists found 1800 pieces of microplastics per liter of (每升) snow.

How is plastic pollution reaching the Arctic? According to scientists, “It’s clear that most of the microplastics in the snow come from the air.” They fall off the plastic objects and are moved by the wind, just like dust. They mix with ice in the air and fall to the ground as snow. Finding these plastics in Arctic snow means that we may breathe them in.

Are they bad for us? Scientists cannot answer this question for now, according to the WHO. We do know that our bodies cannot take in “large” pieces of microplastics. However, if the plastics are small enough, they can find ways into our bodies and stay there for a long time, which can be bad for our health. What’s more, earlier studies have shown that microplastics may contribute to lung cancer risk.

Microplastics have also been found in rivers and oceans around the world. Earlier research has found that they flow over long distances and into our oceans, hurting ecosystems along the way. They start in our wastewater, then flow into rivers and out to the sea, where they are eaten by sea animals. If people then eat these animals, it means that we’re eating the plastic as well.

31We can learn from Paragraph 1 that________.

Athe Arctic is the last really clean place left on earth

Bthe Arctic is an icy land of pure white snow

Cthe Arctic is a beautiful icy land with clean air

D the Arctic has been polluted by plastic rubbish

32The underlined word “contribute” means “_______” in Chinese.

A增加  B捐献  C造成  D……原因之一

33Where do most of the microplastics in the snow come from?

AFrom water.            BFrom air.                CFrom wind.            DFrom food.

34Which of the following isn’t true?

AWe may breathe microplastics in Arctic.

BMicroplastics may cause lung cancer.

CWe don’t have to mind microplastics right now.

D Microplastics have hurt ecosystems.

35How does the writer end this passage?

ABy advising us to drink clean water.

BBy asking people not to eat sea animals.

CBy telling the seriousness of plastic pollution.

DBy showing the beauty of Arctic.

The government in China plans to end its one-child policy and let families have two children instead.

The plan was announced on Thursday after high –level political meetings in Beijing. A Chinese Communist Party statement gave a number of reasons for the change in policy. The statement said the change is meant to balance population development, stop a falling birth rate(出生率) and strengthen the country’s labor force(劳动力).

China, with the largest population in the world, started the one –child policy in 1980. But the government allowed only a small number of couples to have two children. For example, some families in the countryside could have two children, if the first-born child is a girl.

In 2013, the Chinese government gave other couples a chance to have two children if one of them was an only child.

Jiang Quanbao, a teacher and population expert, explained how Chinese families react to the newest policy. “Too many young people in the cities are no longer interested in having a second child,” he said. “People in the countryside are more interested. But some of them are already allowed to have two children. ”

At the end of 2014, China had a population of 1.37 billion people. A total of 800 million of them have jobs. But the labor market population will drop in 35 years. That is to say, the country will be in great need of labor by the year 2050. With the two-child policy, an increase in births can solve this problem.

Boys and girls, what do you think of the two-child policy? Do you want to have a new-born brother or a sister?

54Why does the government plan to end the one-child policy?

ABecause we need a larger population.

BBecause millions of people have jobs.

CBecause most families want to have a second child.

DBecause a falling birth rate must be stopped.

55How do most young people in the cities react to the two-child policy?

AThey support the policy.

BThey don't think it is good.

CThey're very interested.

DThey're not interested any more.

56When will our country be seriously short of labor if the one-child policy continues?

AIn 2015.                 BIn 2035.                 CIn 2050.                 DIn 2070

57The Two-Children Policy mainly ______.

Ahelps solve the problems of aging population and labor shortages.

Bdoesn’t allow one couple to have two children.

Chas a bad influence on one’s mental health.

Dencourages one couple to have more than two children.

58More couples ______ the Two-Children Policy according to the passage.

Adisagree with                                             Bagree with

Cdon’t know                                                Dhate
