In August, 2021, some new rules came out to restrict (限制) young people’s online game time. People under the age of 18 can only play online games three hours a week. Online game providers can offer only one-hour service to young people from 8 p. m. to 9 p. m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. They are very popular with teachers and parents.

Zhang Zhe, a high school teacher in Nanjing, thinks online games influence students’ studies a lot. At home, parents often find it hard to stop their children from playing them. What’s worse, students might have no interest in developing friendship. “Students who become seriously addicted (上瘾的) to online games often find all kinds of excuses to play them. They also spend little on food or clothes to save their money for online games. So I think it is really necessary for the government to take action.” said Wu Li, a teacher in Wuhan.

Mrs Wang, a mother of a high school student in Shanghai, used to have difficulty keeping her son away from online games, so she felt really glad when the new rules came out. “Whenever I tried to stop him, he got really angry. For several months, he even refused to talk to me.” said Mrs Wang.

Thanks to the rules, students can have more time to take up new hobbies. To make sure that students develop healthier lifestyle (生活方式) , schools, teachers and parents need to work closely to help young students find proper hobbies, and hold different after-school activities for them.

12 According to the first paragraph, which one is TRUE?

A A pupil can play online games 2 hours every day.

B A 16-year-old boy can play online games three hours a week.

C A student of 17 can play online games from 8 p. m. to 10 p. m. on Sunday.

D A girl from a junior high can’t play online games from 8 p. m. to 9 p. m. during the Spring Festival.

13 Which of the following may happen to the students who are addicted to online games?

A They spend more on food and clothes.

B They have interest in making friends.

C Their studies are influenced a lot.

D They have a good relationship with their family.

14 What should schools, teachers, and parents do according to the last paragraph?

①They should work together to help young students.

②They should take up new hobbies.

③They should develop healthier lifestyle.

④They should hold different after-school activities for students.

A ①④ B ②③ C ①③ D ②④

15 The passage mainly tells us _________.

A some online games are harmful to students

B some students are addicted to online games

C some parents and teachers are against the new rules

China covers large areas and has a great population. Different living habits have always been an interesting topic in the country. Recently, another difference between southern Chinese and northern Chinese became a hot one: the way people shop at markets.

People from southern China say that they always buy what they need for just one or two meals. It is normal for them to buy half of a Chinese cabbage, two potatoes and 0.25 kilograms of beef at a time.

However, one may be laughed at if he does this in the north. Instead, buying vegetables and meat enough for a week is usual. Also, you can buy a small amount (数量) of fruit, such as a single apple or pear, each time in the south. Shop owners even help you peel and cut them. But shop owners in the north hardly offer such service. And many fruits are sold in baskets and boxes.

The difference could be due to the different weather.

Food can be kept for a long time in the north, as it is usually cold and dry there. Many northern Chinese have the habit of storing food, especially for the long winter. But the hot and wet weather in the south makes southern Chinese buy just enough food for one meal or one day, or else the food may go bad.

China is a great country with the largest population in the world. In order to solve the population problem, our government carried out onechild policy (政 策)before. When it is carried out for some time, many people not only see its advantages but also disadvantages.

From 2016, twochild policy is put into effect. In my opinion, twochild policy is good. First of all, twochild policy is the gift for some only child. For some families, maybe the parents are only child and they also can have only child. Besides the loneliness of their child, when their child grows up and they grow older, their child marry an only child girl, the burden(负担)on their child and his

wife is too heavy. Their child and his wife have to take care of two couples. Usually, a young couple looking after an old couple is a little difficult. But if their parents have two children, they can share the burden of taking care of their parents. It would be much better. Secondly, twochild policy can guarantee (保证) the number of Chinese population.
