Rachel Carson（1907﹣1964）was a pioneer of the world's environmental movement through her writing about the protection of the natural world．Her 1962 book Silent Spring made her well known by many people．It describes the harmful changes in the environment of using toxic（有害的）chemicals on farmland．

Since her death．Carson's name has continued to be connected with protecting the environment．There is now a yearly Rachel Carson Book Prize．Norway awards the Rachel Carson Prize to women who have made great contributions to the field of environmental protection．In1980，16 years after her death，she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom，the highest civilian honour in America．

Stephen was a student at Oxford University. He studied math and science. Then, at the age of twenty, he became sick. He was so young, but the doctors said to his family, “He has only two more years to live.” As a matter of fact, the doctors were wrong---- he didn’t die. Dear Mr Zhu,
I am writing to your magazine’s “Teenagers Now” column(专栏) to ask for some help with my 16-year-old son. At the moment, he refuses to do almost everything his mother and I ask him to do. He is our only child and we treat him very well. His grandparents buy him many things, and yet he is still rude to us. He refuses to spend time with us or do as we tell him. Sometimes he acts as if he doesn’t even love us at all.
Now he refuses to do his homework, and instead insists on wasting his time watching DVDs and listening to foreign music. I cannot understand this music, but I don’t like it. He also spends too much time in Internet cafes, where he either plays games or chats online. He is wasting valuable time during this important period in his life!
What am I to do? At present, to prevent making his mother unhappy with an argument, I am allowing him his freedom. However, I am worried that if I keep allowing him to do what he wants, he may fail at school, or worse.
How can I help my son without harming our relationship?

Your Junior 3 year will finish soon. Do you want to say something about your junior school life?
What were the rewards (收获) of the three years? Our readers have their stories to share.
I got through a hard time in Junior 2 when my grades suddenly dropped（下降） a lot. I faced great pressure. In the following summer vacation, I worked hard by studying for 10 hours a day. It was crazy, but when I became one of the top students again, I felt everything had been worthwhile（值得的）.
In July, 2011,I had a trip to the UK with some students
and teachers. When we arrived there, the other students and I
didn’t want to eat the local food. The teachers were worried and
tried to make us eat. When we finally finished the meal, the
guide said that the world now sees how spoiled（被宠坏的）
Chinese kids are. I felt really sorry.
I lived in a dorm（寝室）during junior school. It was a great challenge since I had never left my parents before that. I had to take care of everything myself. I learned to make my bed and get along with roommates. I also learned to make a schedule to arrange（安排）my time .I’ve done a good job and I feel proud.
